User manual

The user manual provides instructions on how to use EPPI-Reviewer 4 and leads you through the most commonly used functions in the software.

The latest version of the EPPI-Reviewer 4 User Manual can be found here (last updated: October 9th, 2018).

EPPI Reviewer Set-up Guides

We have an additional document on running EPPI-Reviewer 4, detailing the web browsers it is compatible with, and how to enable the additional browser add-on required to use the software, available for both Macs and PCs(EPPI Reviewer 4 requires Microsoft's Silverlight web browser add-on, together with either Internet Explorer 11 or Firefox Extended Support Release version 52.9.0.)

NOTE: The Apple Mac guide only applies to Mac OS 10.14 (Mojave) or earlier. Macs upgraded to Catalina (Mac OS 10.15) will only run 64-bit applications and thus will not run the necessary (32-bit) Silverlight browser add-on. If you are using Mac OS 10.15 (Catalina), please use EPPI Reviewer Web. This runs on most modern browsers such as Chrome, Safari, Opera and Edge. See our website and forum for further details of ER-Web.)

The newer EPPI Reviewer Web runs across browsers and devices, including smartphones and tablets. However, we are still in the process of completing functionality in this version. If there are certain features you require that have not yet been ported to ER Web, you can switch between the two at will. Both versions use the same underlying database and anything you do in one version will be reflected in the other. (Note that you cannot log onto both at once with the same user account though, as this could cause inconsistencies in the database.)

(A more advanced Mac guide is available here, detailing installation of multiple versions of Firefox for those who use it for general browsing and wish to keep the latest version on the computer alongside the ESR 52.9.0 version.)

You may also find this document on importing references via RIS file from other databases, or applications such as Endnote, useful.)
