Hi. I've just signed up for an EPPI reviewer trial. We want to use the program to create a visual evidence map. Is that possible? If so, do we need to create the data extraction template within EPPI reviewer, or can it be uploaded from excel? thanks Rebecca

Hello Rebecca,

We are in the process of developing an evidence mapping program that will use exported data from EPPI-Reviewer to create an evidence map. We are using the json export function that can be found in the coding reports (in EPPI-Reviewer) to collect the data that is to be displayed. Depending on your timing it might be ready for you to try in the not too distant future.

If you already have a program to create the map and it requires the data to be in a particular format we might be able to suggest ways to get your data into that format (if you let us know more about the required format).

Best regards,

Jeff

Hi Jeff

thanks for your reply. We are on a pretty tight timeframe and need the maps to be complete by late March/early April. We have completed the lit review and have an Endnote library of about 200 articles ready to start coding. We've also been talking to a group in South Africa about using their "wizard" to create a map, once coding is done. Their maps are at https://africacentreforevidence.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Evidence-map_v8.html. Haven't spoken to them yet about any special requirements of the Wizard...

Noone here has used ER4 before so we do need some support on how to do import the Endnote library and start the coding. Is there a tutorial you can point me too? Or, better still, anyone based in Sydney we might be able to contract to provide a 1 hour tutorial for the team here?

We're happy to get the licecne once we're sure we'll be able to use it!

Happy to speak by phone if that's easier

Becky

Hi,

You should be able to import references from Endnote (saved in standard RIS format) directly into EPPI Reviewer.

You can either use the import button along the top menu bar, or the sources tab to the right of the EPPI Reviewer screen.

There is a video on importing references available at http://youtu.be/HmEnboK88Y8, and more are available at https://eppi.ioe.ac.uk/cms/Default.aspx?tabid=3061.

We also have a full manual online which details the import process around page 22 onwards, available at https://eppi.ioe.ac.uk/cms/Default.aspx?tabid=2933.

Unfortunately Jeff is out of the office today, but he should be able to answer any further questions you have on evidence mapping or arranging training sessions.

Kind regards,

Zak Ghouze

Thanks Zak that's really helpful. I'll look forward to hearing from Jeff on possible training sessions - in the meantime we'll have a look at the youtube links.

Hi Jeff/ Zak

Any further info on potential for a training session in Sydney, Australia? We are now at the point of wanting to upload to ER4 to start coding. We're happy to buy the license - and will do so this week - but would really appreciate some face to face time with someone who knows the system. We could potentially do by skype but the time difference is a killer - 11 hours at the moment.. regards Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,

Jeff is out of the office until Friday this week, but I'll let him know you are keen to get the training in progress. Do feel free to set up user accounts on EPPI Reviewer (at https://eppi.ioe.ac.uk/cms/Default.aspx?tabid=2935), if you have not done so already. (See http://youtu.be/1UaZoHrqKZ8 for a video on how to do this.) You should be able to create your user accounts at no charge and benefit from one month's free usage immediately - allowing you to create reviews and upload references. Once the accounts are set up, we can extend them further, add them to any site license you may require, and share any reviews you and your colleagues may want to collaborate on.

I'll email you directly regarding possible times for some face to face training, and hopefully provide any pointers you may need to get started.

Kind regards,

Zak
