If I understood this correctly, you are manually "deleting" items that are duplicates, this is because you have already coded many items, so you want to manually merge the coding information and choose the master accordingly. Fair enough, this is a very sensible approach in your situation. What you would like, is the ability to "delete" a document from within the "document details" window.
Yes, this is possible, and we will try to add this ability with the next update.

I would also like to add the ability to mark items as duplicates in the same "document details" window, but this will need some more care and attention so I don't expect to be able to have it ready for the next minor upgrade.

PS this forum is quite 'moody', the notification emails do work for me, but in some circumstances they don't, or they even cause other problems. We are working on a major upgrade for the whole site, with new, much improved forums. If all will go according to plan the upgrade should happen in early Autumn, so we are not going spend too much time trying to fix the current (doomed) forum installation.
