Hello,

I have a really basic question about searching for multiple references.I did look in the Help manual first, but couldn't find the answer. I need to search for a group of references in my review, and was going to use their document ID number to identify them.

Do I enter each ID number separately and then combine them with OR? Or could I enter all of them into the search box separated by some kind of separator like a comma or semicolon? I was hoping it would be the latter as it will be faster.

Any help much appreciated.

Regards, Ginny Brunton

Hi Ginny,

At the moment, the id search field operates a little differently to other text searches, as it tries to find a single reference (usually). I think there are two ways forward for you:

1. Search for each id individually from the search (binoculars button) on the documents tab. This will find each document at a time, and you can then select it and assign it to a temporary code (you could put a temporary code in 'James's codes' if you want). Once you've search for, and assigned each one, you can list all the items with your temporary code.

2. If you know the first authors, you can do the same using the authors' names.

I'm afraid the search doesn't do exactly what you need though, as listing multiple IDs is a different activity to finding documents which all meet a given search criterion. I can see this would be useful though, so will put it on the list for a future update.

Hope this helps, James.
