 Hello

Thank you for the reply.

I didn't explain myself very well.

What I'm supposed to do is to read 5000 articles for my excipient and code them, for example, as excluded for this or included for that. With this work i will obtain a gold standard that will have all the 5000 articles coded. After what I need to do is go through all subject headings for my excipient. The articles in each subject headings are part of the 5000 articles. I will have a Gold standard group were there will be all of the 5000 articles coded and I will create a group for each subject heading that will have to be coded as well. So the articles from each subject heading are part of my gold standard (5000 articles already coded) and what i wanted to know is if it is possible to code the articles of each subject headings automatically without being necessary to go through all the articles again and coding them as they already exist in my gold standard.

I hope it is clear.

Thank you so much

Hello Mariana,

I'm not sure if I am following what you have described but I will try to work through it.

The first step you are describing is what I would call screening the items.  You will look through the 5000 items and apply some type of exclusion/inclusion criteria to them to see if they should move forward in the process. This should be very similar to what is described in the Screening part 1 and part 2 videos that you will find on our YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/eppireviewer4). You may wish to view them.

The next step sounds like some type of categorization of the items based on the subject headings. We might call this 'keywording'. For this we would create a new coding tool with the different categories as codes. You would only want to carry out this categorization on the items that passed the first screening section (i.e. the items that were 'included'). You can identify these items by listing items based on the codes applied. If you right-click a code you can select 'List items with this code'.

If you need to bulk apply a code to a number of items you can select the items in the documents tab, right click the code to apply and select 'Assign selected items to this code'. This will assign that code to all of the selected items. You can use this method to apply and remove codes from multiple items in one operation.

Best regards,

Jeff
