Hello,

Will the EPPI-Reviewer reference manual be available soon? I am looking for further details of the Lingo3G clustering engine.

I am also wondering if there is a way to apply a specific child code to an entire set of documents based on source.

Thanks,

Carla

Dear Carla,

The EPPI-Reviewer reference manual is long overdue but we are still pretty busy writing new features and improving usability, in other words, it is not currently our top priority, also because there doesn't seem to be much demand for it. From our point of view (and we may be biased in favour of new users), it seemed far more useful to concentrate our support efforts in creating good and comprehensive how-to videos. As always, we are interested in your views and on everyone's opinion: do you think we should prioritise the reference manual?

On Lingo3G: you can find more details on the Lingo3G main website. About text mining in systematic reviews, you may be interested in: Thomas J, McNaught J, Ananiadou S (2011) Applications of text mining within systematic reviews. Research Synthesis Methods. 2(1): 1-14. You may also want to get in touch with James directly, if you have further questions on the subject (his email address is published also on the "author info" of the article above).

On assigning codes based on source: this is not the first time someone asks, maybe we should create a way to automate this. Currently you can do it in a semi-manual way:

1 from the sources tab, list the source you want to code.

2 select all documents in the resulting list

3 right click the code you want to assign and select "assign selected documents to this code"

4 repeat 2 and 3 as needed for each page in the list of source documents.

Note that ,starting from the next version (expected by mid August), it will be possible to decide how many items will be shown in one "page" of the main documents list, currently this is fixed to (a maximum of) 700 items. When the next version will be published it will be possible to vary the page size from 10 to 4,000 documents, making the whole process much faster.

I hope this helps,
Sergio
