I want to allocate 50 articles to group 1, 164 to group 2, and the rest 400 to group 3. How to do it? I tried clicking that "hand" icon but it randomly assigns the same percentage of articles to each group :(

Hello Monali,

The 'Assign documents to specified codes randomly' function (the hand icon) operates on a percentage. One could figure out the percentages of the total items to end up with a certain number of items but in your case, with different numbers in each group, that wouldn't work either.

I can see where this would be a useful function and I believe it is on our list of features we want to add (or todo list) but it is not available at this time.

Allocation groups are just codes assigned to an item so you can adjust what items are in each group (by moving around the codes assigned to them). What I would do is figure out the percentage to get 50 items and run the function. Then adjust the percentage and run the function again to get 164 items. (you can tell the function to ignore items with a particular code so you don't get the same items in both groups). Finally I would run a search for all of the items without any codes from your allocation codeset (which should be around 400) and put them in your third group. After a bit of clean up you would then have 3 groups, each containing the number of items that you require.

Best regards,

Jeff
