Odds ratios (95% CI)

Hi,

I am collecting data from my studies, of which I need to input into the outcome data the odds ratio with the 95% CI.

Can you advise which tab I should be using? I attempted to do this with the manual tab, but there was only a box to input the OR alone.

Hello Sally,

What you will need to do is to calculate the Standard Error of the log odds ratio from the confidence interval and input the SE ln(OR) into Eppi Reviewer in the manual tab.

You will first need to calculate the upper and lower CI based on 95%. There are a number of online utilities that will do this for you such as https://www.medcalc.org/calc/odds_ratio.php

I have also emailed you a excel utility that will calculate the SE ln(OR) based on the OR and the upper and lower CI values. Once you have this number you can enter it in the manual option.

I will look at putting this excel utility somewhere on the EPPI-Reviewer 4 gateway so others will have access to it.
