 Dear All,

I am working on a review where I screen a lot of records per day. Some of the records I screen do not have an abstract. I was wondering, is there any way to add the abstract to a record in case it was available on line?

I have noticed that there is an option to do some edit, that is: from the home page, you click on Documents tab and then a window with lots of references will come up. Then, you can click on the Go button and you will have the chance to edit and save the references. What I have noticed though is that once I came across, in my screening, a record without abstract, if I try to look for it using the Find option within the Document tab, I never get hold of the document I need. As if it was not available in the list...how is that possible?

Many thanks!

maria

Hello Maria,

This is related to the 'Priority screening' function that you are trialling. Normally, in EPPI-Reviewer, you would be accessing your items through the 'Documents' tab (as you described). When you access the items this way then you can edit your citation.

In 'Priority screening', you access the items through the 'Screening' tab. In this method the ablility to edit the citation has been removed. This is because before you start using the 'Priority screening' functions all of the items in your review are indexed based on the information in the titles and abstracts. If you start to edit the content of the abstracts after this occurs then the new information you are adding is not part of the indexed information the system is working with.

You may have also noticed that the items in the 'Documents' tab are paged with 700 items per page. The 'Find' box will only look at one page at a time. If you are looking for a particular item you would either need to check each page (which may be difficult if there are many pages) or you could run a search in the 'Search' tab to find the item.

Best regards,

Jeff
