The following is a short list of changes introduced with version 4.2.0.2.
This was a minor upgrade mainly focussed on the issues we found with the PDF Viewer features, we also fixed a couple of other bugs.
Document Details:
New Feature: native display of PDFs and PDF annotations.
This is a much awaited-for feature that has actually kept us busy for quite a while. The new functions will allow the following:
- Display the original PDF while coding. For the time being it won’t be possible to code text directly inside the PDF (you can still use the “Text Document” tab for this.
- Add short “Annotations” to the PDF. These are stand-alone small “Sticky notes” that can be saved and displayed in EPPI-Reviewer only. No export, search or coding-related features are present at the time. We are planning to add these features as soon as possible.
The above was planned to appear on Version 4.2.0.0 but was disabled on V.4.2.0.1 as it caused instability under heavy workloads. We have worked closely with the third-party supplier that produced the components we use. Many thanks are due to the PDFTron support team: their help was fast and effective.
Bug fixes:
- Importing from PubMed: a bug caused the Import window not to refresh after importing Items from the PubMed tab. This is now solved.
- Files list in Document Details: when the current Item was linked to other items (Linked Records) the list of files could show duplicate copies of the same file.
