Hi

I have been trying to import searchs (all day!). Not all databases seem to permit exports . Is that correct ?

Altho I have endnote any exporting to endnote doesnt seem to go anywhere ?

However where I could export and had option to save/export as RIS that seems to have worked. Exporting and then using the filter has not worked so well as it tells me to select an end tag that doesnt seem to be in the file, or it gives me so many options and reports I cannot see which should be selected and when I choose one that seemed lest problematic abstracts didnt seem to upload.

Also, I have now uploded 1500-odd records but the document window tells me I have only 700 documents upload of 1500 - - any uploads in the last hour or so dont seem to have uploaded - is there just a delay ?

Hello Margaret,

Some databases allow the export of your search results and some don't. You would need to check with the individual databases whether they do or not but most will allow it.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'exporting to EndNote doesn't seem to go anywhere'. Are you talking about exporting references out of EndNote? Or do you mean exporting references out of an online databases do they can be imported into EndNote?

If your file is already in RIS format there is no need to use the RIS EXPORT utility. This utility converts your search results into an RIS file so you would be trying to convert an already converted file. If the file is already in RIS format you can import it directly into EPPI-Reviewer.

As for the mismatch of numbers, you may want to check if your search result file actully had 1500 records in it. Online database may assign numbers to records but do sometime leave gaps in their numbering. If you let me know the review and source name I can have a look at it for you.

Best regards,

Jeff

Thanks Jeff

I mean exporting to endnote FROM external databases - and then uploading to my reveiw.

If I have all my refs in end note - can I do this ? Or must I go direct from the external database to desktop, to EPPI ?

I read somewhere in the manual that only 700 docs appear at time in the documents ? Im not sure if I have understood this corrrectly ?

M

Hello Margaret,

If your references are already in EndNote you can export them out of EndNote into an RIS formatted file that can be imported directly into EPPI-Reviewer. In EndNote you just need to make sure that your output style is set to 'RefMan (RIS) Export'. Next, select your references and then click on 'File -> Export'.

Items are displayed in the Documents tab in pages of 700. If there are more than 700 items in your review you can move through each page usign the links at the bottom of the Documents tab.

Best regards,

Jeff
