Hello Jeff,

We have a number of Sources in the tool box plus the Manually Created Items.  I have been responsible for creating new records in the Manually Created Items.  What we would now like to do is add further manually entered items but to have them separately recognisable from the other manual records.  Can I create a new source (with a name such as Manually Created Items 'Grey Literature') using the 'Add new ' on the Source Tab or is that only for records to be imported into EPPI?  Do I just go into 'Add new' , leave the RIS option, clear the page of any existing data to create a blank page and just type in a new source name such as Manually Created Items 'Grey Literature', and click Save?

Thank you

Maura

Hello Maura,

I think I understand what you are asking. Sources are created through the act of importing references. Any manually created references are placed in a pre-defined source called 'Manually Created'. Unfortunately there isn't a way to have a number of different 'manually create' sources.

If you are trying to keep track of where the different manually created items came from I would recommend creating a codeset called 'Manually created items' and in that codeset have a code for each of the sources where you located your items (hand searching, grey literature, etc.). You could then apply the appropriate code to the manually created item.

Best regards,

Jeff

Thank you very much Jeff.

Codeset and codes have been created - it will certainly make it a tidy way of keeping track of those records.
