Hi Jeff,

When coding an item, e.g. when applying a code from codeset 'Screen on title and abstract' - let's say that I mistakenly click the code 'exclude on participants' and I want to unclick it - how do I do it? i.e. how do I unassign an item from this code?
I know there is a long  way to do this by closing the window and going to codesets and then rightclicking on the code and selecting 'unassign' item from this code, but that's too complicated.

Thank you,
Jan

Hello Jan,

If you have mistakenly clicked a checkbox while coding you just need to uncheck it.

When I say coding I’m assuming that you are moving through the items in the ‘Document details’ window (with your codes on the left and the citation on the right). If you click a checkbox that has already been checked you will be prompted to agree that you want to remove the check but other than that it should be a straight forward process. Or am I misunderstanding what you are asking?

Best regards,

Jeff

Thanks Jeff,

Your understanding of the question is perfect, however, when I 'click a checkbox that has already been checked' I don't get the message about removing the check. Instead, a message appears which says: 'Delete code? Are you sure you want to delete this code. You will also delete any additional text...'

This has been happening since I started my review 2 months ago, so I thought that that's just a way it is and the check box cannot be unclicked.

Hello Jan,

I see what you are saying. When it is giving you the prompt ‘Are you sure you want to delete this code’ it means remove this as a selected code rather than remove it from the codeset. I can see where it could be misleading.

Perhaps we need to change the text to something like ‘Are you sure you want to unselect this code’.
I have added this to our do to list and it should be done for the next update to the program.

Thanks for drawing our attention to this.

Best regards,

Jeff

Yes, that would be helpful. Thank you for your prompt response.
