If we have a RIS file that includes the EPPI Id number (which EPPI writes to the U1 field when exported), is there some way to update the records in EPPI with the content from the modified RIS data? We have a fair amount of reference cleanup that is much faster to do in an external editor.

Dear Norman,

Unfortunately the software would give the imported items new, unique, Internal IDs. The modified U1 field in your RIS file would become the Imported ID...

You could edit the RIS file exported from EPPI Reviewer in your chosen editor, delete the original items from your review in EPPI Reviewer (or start a new review), then import the edited file... You'd have all your edited items, just with different internal IDs. It's feasible you could even leave the original items as they were, import the edited RIS file, then look for duplicates and remove or mark the originals that way...

Best wishes,

EPPI Support
