is there a way to tell the coding allocation to ignore excluded items? (Obviously i could create a new code with only the included items, but the nice thing about the allocations is they update dynamically, which a new code wouldn't.)

Hello Theo,

If you use the ‘Assign documents to specified codes randomly’ function (the icon that looks like a hand) to create the groups of items you are going to allocate, you can specify whether you want to use Included items or Excluded items. If you specify Included items (the default) only items marked with the Include (I) flag will be assigned the group codes. Then, when you allocate the groups to individuals for coding, they will only have Included (I) items to work with.

If you are allocating items on the collaborate page and selecting items based on previous coding (and not allocation groups) then their isn’t a way to restrict it to items with only the Included (I) or Excluded (E) flags.

If you think this would be a useful option we could add it to our to-do list.

Best regards,

Jeff

well, it's no big deal but it would make life fractionally easier at data extraction stage if you could ignore excludes for allocation purposes (e.g. secondary linked studies)

thanks

Thanks, James.
