I wonder whether there is a way of backing-up a version of the database at a point in time so that an earlier version can be retrieved if anything goes wrong?

Best,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Short answer: No, not yet.

Long answer: the database is backed up in such a way that it is usually possible to restore it to the exact state that it was at any given time. Unfortunately, this applies to the whole database and there is no easy way to single out one review only. This means that when a restore is needed, we will use the "time travel" features to restore the DB onto a separate installation, more or less manually compare the data on the two versions and change the real data according to our findings. Yes, it is complex, but it is doable.

To do so, we would normally charge for our time (may take one full day of work or more) unless the restore operation is necessary because of a bug or some other fault on our side. If you'll be forced to ask our help in this way, it's usually a very good idea to know the precise point in time that we should go back to. This will save us the long process of restoring to arbitrary snapshots, verify if we found the right time, and eventually restore again until the correct version is found.

Sergio
