Hello,

One of my users is having a problem uploading PDF files to eppi-reviewer. When she clicks the "upload" button, it takes her directly to the "select files to upload" box with the "browse" button. If she clicks the browse button nothing happens. (When I click the upload button, I first get a screen where I get to pick the file I want to upload and then am directed to the "select files to upload box").

Her account was extended so I know it is not expired. I had her uninstall and then reinstall silverlight and she still cannot choose a file to upload. I am able to upload PDF files so I don't think it is a system-wide issue.

Any suggestions would be great - thank you!

Emily

Hi Emily,

Can you confirm if she is using a PC or an Apple Mac, and what web browser she is using? (Though EPPI Reviewer 4 should work with Internet Explorer, Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release) and Safari, I have found a number of people have been experiencing issues uploading files with Safari on Macs recently... It does seem like the plug-in settings can be an issue; plug-ins need to be allowed, and Silverlight needs to be set to run in safe-mode.)

(I am assuming she is on the same network as you, and shouldn't have any different security settings on her machine preventing her from uploading files.)

Kind regards,

Zak Ghouze

Hi Zak,

(Now it is two users). Both are on apple macs and in Safari. I am also on an apple mac and in Safari and it still works for me.

If it is plug-ins or running silverlight in safe mode, what should be fixed? (I have never had to change my settings for these to work in safari).

Thank you!

Emily

Hi Emily,

It does seem quite a few people have been reporting issues uploading PDFs when using Safari on a Mac... I'd definitely check the plug-in settings within Safari on your colleague's Mac. Note that if you hold down the option key when clicking the plug-in settings button, you see further options displayed. (See https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202819 for further details.)

I have made a more detailed post, with screenshots, on this matter at https://eppi.ioe.ac.uk/cms/Default.as...cope=posts#2059. The details of updating your plug-settings can be found there.

Let me know how your colleague gets on. If there are further issues, I'd recommend trying Firefox ESR (the Extended Support Release), as this seems to work fine with Silverlight and EPPI Reviewer, and the Mac OS.

Kind regards,

Zak

Thank you - this solution worked for us! The detailed screen shots were really helpful.
