Report: all text coded with this code

I am trialling EPPI Reviewer 4 on a 1-month free trial in order to assess potential software before starting a thematic synthesis of qualitative material using inductive coding.

I have successfully coded data from one study but when I click on 'Report: all text coded with this code' it doesn't work. I right click on the code to show the menu, click on 'Report: all text coded with this code' and get a document with a heading only and no body. When I click on 'Show text coded with this code' I can see the text I have coded highlighted yellow. I have tried several of my codes but all with no success.

Is this because I'm using a trial version?

Hello Rachel,

I just had a quick look at your review and noticed that you have your coding tool set for multiple data extraction. This means that the system is expecting 2 or more people to be coding the same item and coming to agreement before the items coding is marked as 'complete'. Once the items coding is marked as 'complete' it will show up in the programs searching and reporting functions. Since the items coding is not marked as 'complete' at this time it is not showing up when you select 'Report: all text coded with this code'.

If you look in the 'Review statistics' tab (bottom right corner of the screen) you will see that you have one item marked as 'incomplete' (in the Incomplete table). If you click on the green check next to your name you can mark the item as 'complete' and it's coding will show up in your report. You can also manually mark the item as 'complete' in the 'Document details' window by right-clicking the code, selecting properties and checking 'coding complete'.

Since you are the only one in your review you may want to change your coding tool to 'Single data entry' (through the properties option for that codeset). When it is set for 'Single data entry' the items coding will get marked as 'complete' as soon as you apply a code to it.
