Hi We have created a new code set for each of two reviewers to independently screen on title and abstract for reliability purposes. I understand we need to set Data entry method to comparison rather than normal entry. However when I right click on the Code set title, select properties in order to do this, it's set to normal and I don't have the option of changing. this relates to review ID 8440 Can you advise? thank-you Carol-Anne

Hello Carol,

I had a look at review 8440. Could I ask which codeset you are talking about? If it is the 'Screen on Title & Abstract' codeset you should be able to change it. When you select properties for that codeset you should see a link in the 'edit codeset' window that says 'Change to comparison data entry'. Are you not seeing that link?

hi Jeff it's the very last codeset in the list called Reliability of Screening on Title and Abstract? Carol-Anne

Hello Carol-Anne,

That codeset is of the 'Administrative' type so it can't be changed to comparison mode. It appears that this is an allocation codeset (it has a group code in it) so you wouldn't want this to be in comparison mode. The only codesets that you want in comparison coding mode are those that you use for coding (such as a screening codeset or a data extraction codeset). An allocation codeset is just used to identify items that you want to use in a coding assignment.

Based on what I see in the 'Collaborate' tab it is the 'Screen on Title & Abstract' codeset that you want to change to 'comparison coding' mode.

thanks Jeff, I think we had not understood where the allocation process takes place. just so that I am clear before we proceed further: When we set up the allocation codeset we identified items as a "Group 1" asking it to select a random 10% of the documents imported, which we want to screen on title and abstract (appearing at the moment as a node under that last codeset). How do we access/select that 10% for our independent screening? I can't see where it appears other than it being listed under MyInfo as a work allocation and in the collaborate tab as a coding assignment. apologies for all of the questions! rgds Carol-Anne

Hello Carol-Anne, If your 'group 1' allocation identifies a random 10% selection of items you just need to use that code as the 'code studies in this group' option when setting up the coding assignment. You then just need to click on the 'Remaining' value in the coding assignment to list the items you still need to screen. Best regards, Jeff Brunton
