This forum is kept largely for historic reasons and for our latest changes announcements. (It was focused around the older EPPI Reviewer version 4.)

There are many informative posts and answers to common questions, but you may find our videos and other resources more informative if you are an EPPI Reviewer WEB user.

Version 4.5.2.0 contains new features for data visualisation/export and a handful of minor improvement and fixes. EPPI-Reviewer can now natively produce graphs to display the data shown in the crosstabs and frequency tabs, it is now also possible to export formatted bibliographies in both Harvard and Chicago styles.

New Features:

New plots are available for frequency and crosstab reports. In the Frequencies tab, it is now possible to show frequencies as a table (as before, this is the default), as well as Pie or Bar charts. In the latter two formats, it's possible to exclude the "none of the above" category. In Crosstabs, besides the usual table, it is now possible to show results as Bar, Stacked and Normalised stack (Per stack, in percentage) charts; crosstabs also allows to show result in the (experimental) form of "circular relationships" charts. In all cases, charts can be adjusted by setting the font size and changing the colour scheme used. All charts can also be saved to disk as PNG files.
Note that the exported charts are based on what is shown on screen: enlarging the EPPI-Reviewer window would increase the size/resolution of the corresponding PNG file.

New bibliography export formats: EPPI-Reviewer can now produce formatted bibliographies following the 'Harvard' and 'Chicago' reference styles. Previously, only one style was included, roughly following the Harvard standard. Additionally, EPPI-Reviewer can now also export bibliographic data in the format required by the British Library "On Demand" service. This is used by organisations to order full-text documents from the British Library, thus this EPPI-Reviewer functionality is only useful for those who have an institutional account with the British Library "On Demand" service. To enable these features, you will need to fill up the account details to be used for a specific review via the (review)Edit link in the account manager. EPPI-Reviewer customers licensed via site license can also enter this information in the "Site license" tab, this will make sure that all reviews subsequently added to the site license will automatically "inherit" the values associated with the site license. For more details, please refer to the British Library guides.

In priority screening, the fields for Authors, Item ID, Month and publication type are now automatically hidden (so to maximise the space used by the abstract field), a button "Show hidden rows" allows to make them visible when needed (a "Hide less important rows" button allows to hide them again). These features are only activated in Priority screening, this function is still available on request only, we hope to make it visible to all users with the next update.

New Search Function: in the search tab, it's now possible to do a search to identify all items that have a blank abstract.

In the Edit/run Meta-Analysis window, the R-Powered Meta-Analysis results have been improved by a number of formatting tweaks. Functionalities remain unchanged with respect to version 4.5.1.0.

Bug Fixes:

The Termine service (a third-party facility provided by NaCTeM) is queried by EPPI-Reviewer to extract significant terms from lists of items. This list of terms can then be used to perform weighed searches for similar items. Due to recent changes on the Termine programming interface, this feature stopped working (other term-extraction services available in EPPI-Reviewer were unaffected). This problem is now solved.

Collaborate tab, "View" comparison statistics:
- Under fairly rare circumstances the "Reconcile" window could fail to load and show an error instead, this is now fixed.
- For very complex comparisons (when comparing coding applied to large codesets) loading the statistics for a comparison could time out. The underlying procedures have been optimised, making this possibility far less likely.
