: WHAT DO YOU WANT RESEARCH TO FIND OUT?
Good health care depends on knowing both the causes and consequence of good health and ill health and the effects of efforts to promote health and to prevent or treat ill health.
When there is uncertainty about these causes, consequences and effects, research may help fill the gaps in knowledge.
It has usually been the pharmaceutical industry and university researchers who have decided which gaps in knowledge to address with research.
However, anyone may face gaps in knowledge when making decisions about their own health, or someone else’s health, and wish that research could help answer their questions.
Our newsletter Issue 3 is out now. There is a summary of the first Steering Group Meeting and our plans here.

The Steering Group members had their first meeting for Preterm Birth Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) at Nottingham Clinical Trials Unit on 14 November 2011. Currently we have 13 members for the Steering group (7 representing services users and 6 represeting clinicians or researchers). For more more details of the meeting, please see our full report.
