Version 4.10.1.0 completes the migration of Comparison, Reconciliation and Coding Record features into EPPI-Reviewer Web. Main additions are: in the Review Home tab, the "Coding Progress" section now incorporates all features present in the "Review Statistics" tab of EPPI-Reviewer 4. Concurrently, the Document Details screen now includes a "Coding Record" tab, which includes all functionalities present in the equivalent area in EPPI-Reviewer 4.

New Additions to EPPI-Reviewer Web.

All (visible) new features in this release regard exclusively the "Web" version EPPI-Reviewer. Some security improvements are also included and apply to both versions, but since they are not visible to users, we will not describe them here.

Review Home, Coding Progress

This section has been re-organised in order to better represent the actual progress made. In particular, Coding Tools are now shown in order, based on their type: Screening Tools appear first, then "Standard" tools and "Adminstration" Coding Tools at the bottom, reflecting the ordinary workflow of most reviews.

Detailed statistics

Following the features of the "Review Statistics" tab in EPPI-Reviewer 4, in the Web versio is now possible to expand the details of each Coding Tool. Clicking on the Tool name will expand the row showing the breakdown of Complete and Incomplete coding for each reviewer (if any). The same expanded view also allows users to click on the "per-user" breakdown figures and access the corresponding list or items.

Complete and un-complete Coding based on Tool and Reviewer

Within the expanded, "per reviewer" breakdown area, clicking on the "complete" and "incomplete" icons allows users to change the completion status of the relevant items - this functionality is also a direct replica of what is available in version 4, but in the Web version, clicking on the "complete" (green "v") icon will change the status of completed coding to incomplete; clicking on the red "no entry" icon will change the status of incomplete coding so to complete it.

Advanced Bulk complete and un-complete

Users who have the "Administrator" role will also see the "Advanced Bulk complete and un-complete" buttons in the same area. These are advanced and potentially dangerous functions, which should be used with caution. If in doubt, please get in touch with EPPI-Support before using them.

Main screen, location of some functionalities

We have also re-organised where some important buttons are located, to maximise their visibility and ease of access. In the review home tab, the buttons to import and create items are now in "Review Items" area, those to edit and import Coding Tools are now in the Coding Progress Area.
In the "References" tab, the buttons to "(list items) With this code", "Assign items to this code" and related have been moved to the "Codes" collapsible column on the right.

Item Details screen, Coding Record tab

In the "Item Details" screen, the Coding Record features are now available within EPPI-Reviewer Web. These include the ability to see and save the coding details of all coding done for the current item, irrespective of who did it and whether it has been completed or not. It allows also to create, view and save per-item and per Coding Tool comparisons, which are used mostly for reconciliations for Data-Extraction exercises. Finally, the screen also allow to activate the "live comparison" feature, used to show the coding produced by all reviewers on a per level/branch basis of Coding tools.

Other improvements

In the "References" tab, it is now possible to change the status flag of items to "Excluded (E)", "Included (I)" (the default or newly imported items) or "Deleted (D)". It's now also possible to Cancel the execution of the "Quick Coding" report and the "Quick Question" report.

In the "Build Model" screen (available through the Searches tab) it's now possible to delete existing (custom) machine learning models.

Future plans

Of the features that are still not available in EPPI-Reviewer Web, we consider that the most important ones are: (1) possibility of extracting data for numeric outcomes and run Meta-Analyses; (2) performing deduplication; (3) Setting-up Priority Screening. Our current plan for the next release is to tackle (1), we are expecting to cover the "data extraction" side, but might not be able to release also Data Analysis in the same release. At the same time, EPPI-Reviewer version 4 will also acquire the ability to create time-points to describe trial outcomes (when they have been collected at different times). We anticipate that this new feature will appear in both versions at the same time. We are also working on new (and exciting) automation features which will also appear on both versions, but perhaps not always concurrently.
