Hello, I have been unable to upload new search results across a number of databases; each search was imported to endnote, then exported as text files. I'm using the 'Import New' option on EPPI, when I select read file and then open the required text file from my drive, the 'upload items' button remains greyed out. I had no difficulties with this function over a year ago. Can you advise?  thank-you. Carol-Anne

Dear Carol-Anne,

Can you confirm if you are using a Mac or PC? It does seem quite a few people have been reporting issues uploading PDFs when using Safari on a Mac...

If you are using a Mac and Safari, I'd definitely check the plug-in settings within Safari. Note that if you hold down the option key when clicking the plug-in settings button, you see further options displayed. (See https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202819 for further details.)

I have made a more detailed post, with screenshots, on this matter at https://eppi.ioe.ac.uk/cms/Default.as...cope=posts#2059. The details of updating your plug-settings can be found there.

Let me know how you get on. If there are further issues, I'd recommend trying Firefox ESR (the Extended Support Release), as this seems to work fine with Silverlight and EPPI Reviewer, and the Mac OS.

Kind regards,

Zak

Hi Carol-Anne,

Would it be possible for you to send us a copy of the file you are trying to import, just so we can check it? (Our support email address is EPPISupport@ucl.ac.uk.)

Are you on your home computer or using a PC at your university / workplace? If the latter, do you know if any changes have been made to network security e.g. file uploads via the web are no longer allowed?

(Just to confirm, I have just succesfully tested uploading a file to a reference item in EPPI Reviewer 4, using both Internet Explorer 11 and Firefox ESR 52.5, so we know there is no issue with our servers at the moment.)

Kind regards,

Zak

HI Zak

I'll send you file now. I had this problem working from home yesterday and today from work.

I'm not aware of any security changes that would prevent me uploading files like but if you can suggest what they might be I can check..

thank-you

Carol-Anne.

Aaah - it doesn't sound like any security change at your workplace if you were experiencing the same problem at home! That's quite worrying / strange!

I'll take a look at the file and get back to you shortly.

Thanks,

Zak
