Hello, since last week, when I log onto EPI 4, the following error message appears:

[Asyn_Exception_Occurred]
Argument:
Debugging resource strings are unavialble. Often then key and the arguments provide sufficient information to diagnose the problem. See

Am using an hp laptop, Windows 7, Internet explorer.

Silverlight version: 5 (5.1.10411.0)

Are you able to help please?

Thanks, Matthew

Hello Matthew,

We had a look at your review and it appears the issue was with a very large codeset that was generated when the clustering function (the 'Automatically generate codes' icon) was run. A codeset with over 18000 codes was created. The program was crashing as it was taking too long to send the complere codeset from the server (and generating the error message that you were seeing). We have removed that codeset from your review so you should be able to load your review now.

We haven't seen a codeset of that size before so we will need to find a way to deal with this. We will initially need to introduce a limit on the size of codeset that can be generated. As well we will look at ways to optimize the routines that bring the codeset to the users computer..

Do you recall if you increased the 'Maximum hierachy depth' value when you ran the clustering function. We are curious if the large codeset was a result of the parameters applied or the broadness of the topic.

Best regards,

Jeff

Hello, wonder if you can help. This error message still keeps popping up. There are a few of us working on the same review and currently doing screening, this same error message pops up for 3 of us (using different laptops) at almost every record - it slows the screening process down quite a bit. However it does not seem to prevent us from doing anything or the system from saving selections. Is there any way to disengage the error message? Thank you very much, Elinor

Hello Elinor,

We initially thought the problem was related to the large codeset in your review but removing it does not seem to have sorted out the problem. Could I ask at exactly what point do you get this message. Is it when you click in a checkbox while coding? Or is it when you go click 'Next' to go to the next item? Or is it while doing something else?

We need to figure out what is happening as it is not a message that we have seen or have been told by others that they are seeing. I will go into your review and run a few tests so you may temporarily see my name there.

Best regards,

Jeff

Hello Jeff

It appears when I open the MASCOT review, and then again while screening when I select next. It appears often when I select next but not always - not sure why this is.

Thank you Elinor

Hello Elinor,

So far we have been unable to come up with an explanation about what you are seeing. If we go into your review we do not see similar behaviour. It all appears to be working properly when we try it.

We need you to try a few more things for us. We are wondering if the review is not getting loaded correctly or possible not finishing loading before you start using it and causing the message you are seeing.

Do you get that message everytime that you open the review? If it is not everytime, on the occasions that you do not get the message do you still get the message when you are moving between items (i.e. does there seem to be a relationship between getting the message at review load and getting the message while moving through the items).

If you are getting the message while moving between items could you try going to the 'My info' tab and reloading the review from there. When you do this do you still get the message. Does it happen as often?

Best regards,

Jeff
