Coding

Hi,

I'm just trialling the software prior to conducting a systematic review.

I've imported some cituations (271) and have set up a code set with eight child codes. I have then screened a number of the citations and coded them to the relevant child code according to my criteria. However, when I right click the code set and select 'Display item frequencies (children)' I do not get any results. Similarly, I do not get any results using the frequencies tab. I have also assigned anything that is coded as one of the child codes to be excluded, but I do not see any documents in the excluded sub-tab.

It appears the items are not actually being coded. Can you help me with this?

Many thanks,

Sam

Hello Sam,

I just had a look at your review and if you go to the review statistics tab you can see that you have coded 149 items.

You coding is there but it is marked as 'not complete'. Is it possible that you may have done your coding when the codeset was set for multiple data entry (and then later changed it back to single data entry). If so, this would explain what you are seeing. Under multiple data entry the system is expecting two (or more) users to code the same item and then marked the correct version as complete. As you are a single user you are unable to fully carry out multiple data entry.

To 'complete' your coded items you just need to go to the Review statistics tab. In the 'Incomplete coding' table open up the 'Screening Criteria'  set and you should see your name and 149 next to it. If you then click on the green check to the right of your name all of those items will be marked as 'complete' based on your coding. The coding for those items will then show up in your queries.

Best regards,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

thanks for your speedy response.

We finally just figured it out, but that's great to have it confirmed.

Thanks again,

Sam
