In 2005, the Medical Research Council Sexual Health and HIV Research Strategy Committee (SHHRSC) commissioned the Child Health Research and Policy Unit, City University, London to establish a database of UK-based research projects on sexual health and HIV funded from 2000-2005.
This database contains information on the content, funder, duration and cost of major studies, and classifies studies according to key headings. Users are able to search the database to run their own reports, listing projects in which they are interested.
A study report on how the database was constructed provides a number of health warnings about the reliability of the data. This report can be obtained directly from us and will be made available on-line in the near future. You may want to consult this in interpreting any tables you run from the database. While this project is now closed, feedback on any errors you may spot can be sent to EPPIAdmin@ioe.ac.uk
Searches can be carried out using these keywords, or by using free text terms. Individual search stages can be combined in the 'Search History' using the boolean operators AND, OR and NOT. Several other functions have recently been added to facilitate searches on this database. Use 'Explore' to browse a list of studies which have been coded according to a selected keywording term. The 'Crosstabs' function can be used to generate a table comparing keywording terms against each other.
