Occasional discussions and exchange of materials and skills across projects is valuable for both those seeking and those giving. If extended support is required then thought must be given to the time required and how this may affect the project(s) of staff giving their time.

It is important to discuss the time required with colleagues, including project directors, and decide a time limit in advance. At times financial reimbursement between projects may be appropriate. This should also be discussed with colleagues and project directors in advance.

The Faculty Research, Consultancy and Knowledge Transfer Manager must be informed of all such arrangements where financial reimbursement is required. Care must be taken that initial arrangements for working across projects or covering at times of crisis does not extend to other periods without the project director’s knowledge.

The Unit Administrative Officer should note changes to staff working across projects for the purposes of keeping the website up to date and for the Annual Report.

Staff wishing to work across projects should discuss this with their Project Directors and Line Manager. Staff changing the projects they are working on should inform the Unit Administrator, as this has implications for promotion of our work on the website and through the Annual Report.
