ANNUAL LEAVE See IoE Policy |
ANNUAL LEAVE Procedures are available via the Unit Administrative Officer. |
ANNUAL LEAVE Staff are encouraged to take their annual leave allowances. The IoE leave year runs from 1st August to 31st July, in line with the IoE financial year. In all instances, annual leave must be discussed and approved by your line manager, using the IoE electronic annual leave cards. The current electronic annual leave card (2013-14) is available on the Intranet. In granting annual leave, line managers need to take into account the timelines and staff cover on work responsibilities so:
The Unit Diary is another of the official Unit records of staff absence and all periods of annual leave and sickness must be recorded in the Unit diary. Up to 5 days' leave can be carried over from one leave year to the other, but must be used before the 31st October of the next annual leave year. Additional leave (more than 5 days) cannot otherwise be taken in the subsequent leave year, unless agreed in writing by your Dean of Faculty (and in the first instance by the Director of SSRU). It is the responsibility of line managers to keep track of staff leave (data available from the Unit Administrative Officer) and be aware of staff member's leave allocation. (See IoE Policy for how to calculate leave entitlement) Staff who are recorded as having taken ten days or less of their allocated annual leave in the last leave year, should be approached by their line manager to ascertain whether there should be cause for concern.
