On Arrival

On your first day of work you should report to the Unit Administrative office on the ground floor of 18 Woburn Square at the prearranged time. There you will meet the Unit Secretary. The Unit Secretary will:

  1. Introduce you to the Unit Manager and your line manager.
  2. Request your NI number, proof of entitlement to work in the UK, home address, bank details (if appropriate) § Show you the Unit diary, seminar room, post room and related resources.
  3. Conduct a health and safety tour of SSRU.
  4. Arrange for you to be logged onto a PC, if it is required for your work.

Starting work - Your Line Manager

Your line manager will meet you as you begin work, explain what is expected of you, and how to complete and submit your timesheets (unless agency staff whose timesheets are provided by their agency). Your line manager is your main point of contact during your time at the Unit, and should be approached with any concerns.

Unless you are employed on a fees paid contract, or by an agency, you will be required to provide: proof of entitlement to work in the UK, NI number, bank details, home address to the Unit secretary on arrival.

I hope that you will find your employment at SSRU to be productive and enjoyable. Please feel free to contact any member of the administrative or management team if you want to discuss anything not covered here.
